Discover the many ways to enjoy your pineapples

Biting into an Australian pineapple means you’re supporting local growers, their families, regional communities, and our country’s proud horticultural heritage – and it also transports you to that sweet taste of summer, all year long.

Whether you’re savouring it fresh, blending it into a morning smoothie, or adding it to your favourite savoury dish, Aussie pineapples bring a taste of summer to any occasion, all year long.

You can add a tropical twist to your baking, grill pineapple for a caramelised treat, or toss it into your favourite salad for a zesty kick.

No matter if you slice it, dice it or juice it, Aussie pineapples are as versatile as they are delicious. Their sweet tanginess pairs beautifully with everything from seafood to desserts, making them an essential addition to your kitchen all year round.

CHOOSE IT

From green to gold, the colour of a pineapple’s skin can naturally vary between seasons, and no matter the colour they are, they’re ready to eat as soon as they hit the shelves.

Pineapples don’t need to continue ripening like other popular fruits, such as avocados, because once they are picked, they are ready for you to enjoy right away.

You may also notice some pineapples have crowns, and some don’t. This doesn’t mean one is better than the other. With or without crowns, each pineapple has the same sweet, juicy taste and is as nutritionally identical as the next. Cutting off the tops allows growers to replant them for the next year’s crop and keeps the natural process going.

When choosing a pineapple, look for fruit that is free from soft spots or bruises, and if it has a top, ensure the leaves are fresh and green.

CHOP IT

Slicing a pineapple is as easy as 1, 2, 3.

  1. Chop off the crown and base then slice down around the edges to remove the skin.

  2. Cut the pineapple lengthways in half and then into quarters.

  3. Remove the core, cutting from top to base and slice into quarters or bite-size pieces.

For those who prefer to enjoy a pineapple later, simply store it in the fridge for up to three days to maintain its freshness. This will also keep the pineapple nice and chilled, which is arguably the best way to enjoy it

Juicy tip: If any "eyes" remain after you’ve removed the skin, carefully remove them with the tip of your knife, making small, angled cuts to ensure the flesh is smooth.

CHOMP IT

Whether you slice it, dice it or juice it, Aussie pineapples are as versatile as they are delicious (and jampacked with goodness).

From pre-and post-workout snacks, where natural glycogen and bromelain pack a punch to help reduce muscle soreness and inflammation, to the ultimate party partner, with 86% water content to keep you hydrated, Aussie pineapples deliver that sweet, juicy goodness when you need it most.

Here are just some of the reasons why chomping on pineapple makes everyday meals all the more delicious:

  • To pizza or not? Pineapple is a key ingredient in the famous Hawaiian pizza, which combines sweet and savoury flavours.

  • Grilling pineapple caramelises its natural sugars, enhancing its sweetness and adding a smoky flavour.

  • They are low in calories, with approximately 50 calories per 100g and contain dietary fibre, aiding in digestion and promoting a healthy gut.

  • Pineapples are packed with vitamin C, providing 100% of your daily needs in just one serving

CHILL IT

A golden Aussie pineapple is always best served chilled.

Chilling a pineapple enhances its juicy texture, making every bite extra crisp and refreshing—perfect for a hot day. For the freshest taste, enjoy your pineapple right away, or store your chopped pieces or chunks in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days.

Did you know? Leaving cut pineapple out of the fridge for too long can cause fermentation, making it taste sour and slightly fizzy - this is why chilling it is best!
