To compare and evaluate current and new fumigation products and their application in pineapple production, targeting improvements in plant and ratoon crop yield in 73-50, pesticide efficacy and cost efficiencies.

To evaluate two new experimental herbicides as potential industry replacements, with a particular focus on Diuron.

To develop integrated pest management practices and evaluate alternative non-synthetic pesticide products in both pre-plant and post-plant pest management programs targeting fruit yield and quality. Fields of both Smooth Cayenne and 73-50 are included in the trial.

To introduce, develop and evaluate precision farming practices into pineapple production systems targeting improved fertiliser and pesticide efficiency and reducing off farm deposition. 

To develop and evaluate a post-induction nutrition program on the hybrid variety 73-50 to improve fruit quality and yield.

To evaluate the potential of crop mulching and fallow cropping to reduce or eliminate the need for pre-plant nutrition and post-plant side dressing practices, and reduce fertiliser losses into the environment.

To evaluate the benefits of farm planning using in-field surveying to reduce/mitigate surface and subsurface off-farm deposition, on low to moderate slopes.
